BOARD CERTIFIED PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER
Kristiana Avery, PhD, PMHNP-BC, APRN

Kristiana Avery is a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and holds a PhD in Biobehavioral Science from the University of Colorado. She did her dissertation research exploring genetic biomarkers for mood disorders. This work helped to evaluate, prevent and treat mental illness and other emotional, behavioral and relational issues. She is trained to treat across the lifespan - children, adolescents, adults - including pregnant and post-partum women and geriatric populations. She has full prescriptive authority to prescribe all classes of medications and practices holistic interventions as well.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Kristiana completed her undergraduate degree in Communications and Psychology from Hasting College in Hastings, NE. After a brief stint as a gymnastics coach at University of Denver, she attended nursing school at Creighton University in Omaha, NE where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Her nursing career began at University of Colorado Hospital where she worked in the inpatient setting for five years with severe and acute psychiatric patients. During this time, she began teaching for the College of Nursing at University of Colorado and has held various clinical faculty positions on and off for the past 15 years. In 2010, Kristiana graduated from University of Colorado- Anschutz Medical Campus with a Masters of Science in the Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program. Most recently she has worked with Registered Nurses (RN's) who have returned to school to complete the same Master's program from which she graduated and often trains them in her practice. Finishing her studies at University of Colorado, Kristiana received her PhD in Nursing-Biobehavioral Science from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in May 2020.

FAMILY LIFE

Kristiana currently resides in Denver, CO and loves living the Colorado lifestyle, enjoying time outside with her family and friends as much as possible. She enjoys skiing, golf, running and yoga. She believes that being active is an essential part of mental wellness and incorporates this into her treatment methods. With a young family, Kristiana's personal experiences help her to understand the challenges that come with balancing everyday life as a wife, mother, friend and professional.

Jonathan Hawkins, LPC

Jonathan Hawkins has been studying human nature for over a decade and has been practicing psychotherapy for the past four years. He has worked in Beijing, Madrid, Nairobi, and rural India on diverse projects ranging from quantitative research on aggression to psychosocial programming for people living with chronic illness. He has experience working with a wide variety of DSM Diagnoses as well as various types of emotional distress and spiritual blocks in adult and adolescent populations. 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Jonathan received his Master's degree in clinical psychology from the University of Denver in 2011 and has been working at a large Denver area hospital providing individual and group psychotherapies. Jonathan has professional training in the Integrated Treatment for Complex Trauma (ICTC) and is well versed in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Besides being passionate about psychotherapy and humanitarian causes, Jonathan enjoys snowboarding, hiking, biking and cultivating meaningful relationships with interesting people.


Anne Robinson, Practice Manager


Anne Robinson is the practice manager at Living Well Health Care. Anne is a master at scheduling and providing documents needed to set up your first appointment. She has a degree in social work and uses these skills to help Living Well Health Care clients get booked with Dr. Avery.

Anne enjoys spending time outside hiking everyday in the woods near her house. She also is a avid fan of yoga and astrology. Anne and Dr. Avery have known each other for years and she really is a great fit to Living Well Health Care.
